On a rainy Saturday afternoon I found myself to be incredibly bored. I asked my mom what I should do, and she of course told me to clean my room (don’t parents always say that!). Having nothing else to do, I followed her suggestion. First, I folded all my laundry and placed it carefully in my dresser drawers. I even hung up my nice shirts on clothes hangers in the closet. I then arranged and stored my role playing game supplies that had been scattered throughout my room for months. My d&d dice were scooped up and placed in their dice bag and my Battle Mat was carefully rolled and put away in its storage tube. For some reason, I was then bitten by the cleaning bug and even cleaned out my fish tank. I made my bed and vacuumed my room, and by the time I was finished I was no longer bored. I was just tired!
Since my son got a Razor E100 electric scooterfor his birthday, he doesn’t seem to have spent any time inside the house. He’s gone from sitting in his room, or watching TV and playing video games, to actually wanting to go outside and meet his friends. I love to see him getting out and about like this and the fresh air seems to be helping his asthma too.
He used to hate walking the dog with me, but all that’s changed. Before, he would think of any excuse not to come with me. I’m sure he had a book of ‘1001 excuses not to walk the dog with your mum’, because he used to reel a different one off each time. I was amazed that he’d rather do homework, or have a shower, than walk the dog, especially as he loves our Boxer dog so much.
I don’t think he’s missed a walk in the last 5 weeks though, since he got his scooter.
